Barcode and 2D Code Readers and Scanners

Barcode and QR code readers and scanners are easy-to-use devices used to automate the process of identifying people and objects using a barcode or multidimensional code (QR, AZTEC, Datamatrix) that is read by a scanner. Such a code can contain a string of characters that, when appropriately assigned in a database, can inform about the name, type and price of a product or convey a message about a specific person who has their code assigned.

Barcode Scanner – What Is It?

Barcode scanner is a reliable and easy-to-use device used to automate the process of identifying people and objects by reading data from codes. The scanner not only reads but also decodes and transmits the information contained in the scanned code. Thanks to their simplicity and convenience, scanners are used in almost every industry and business, from basic office work to retail and service points. HDWR offers both barcode scanners and QR code scanners (QR, PDF-417, Aztec).

    Types of Barcode Scanners (Connectivity):

  • Wired – communication takes place via a cable
  • Wireless – equipped with Bluetooth or radio
  • Hybrid – supports both wired and wireless communication

How a Barcode Scanner Works?

Barcode scanner emits a beam of light that falls onto the barcode, where it is reflected by the spaces between the black bars. The reflected light returns to the scanner and strikes a mirror, which directs the beam onto a photodetector on the circuit board. Such a code may contain a string of characters that, when correctly matched in a database, can provide information about the product’s name, type, and price, or deliver data about a specific person to whom the code is assigned. In our store, you will find both wired and wireless scanners.
