The Tag-U8-3030 is a durable UHF RFID ceramic tag designed for demanding environments where standard plastic tags fail. Made from high-quality ceramic, it withstands harsh conditions and is specifically built for mounting on metal surfaces — a task that defeats ordinary RFID tags. Operating at 865-868 MHz (EU) and 902-928 MHz (US), it enables data reads from up to 10 metres with stationary readers and up to 7 metres with handheld readers. Its compact 30×30×3 mm footprint makes it ideal for vehicle tracking, container management, and industrial equipment monitoring. Browse more RFID tags and accessories in our offer.
The ceramic construction of the Tag-U8-3030 gives it an IP68 protection rating, meaning it is fully dust-tight and withstands continuous immersion in water. It operates reliably across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (storage up to +150°C), making it suitable for outdoor logistics, cold storage, and industrial machinery. Unlike plastic UHF tags, ceramic naturally suppresses the interference caused by metal substrates, enabling accurate reads even when the tag is flush-mounted on a steel surface.
Powered by the industry-standard Alien Higgs-3 IC, the tag offers EPC memory of 96 bits (expandable to 480 bits), 512 bits of user memory, and a 64-bit TID for unique identification. With a write endurance of 100,000 cycles and data retention of up to 50 years, the tag is suitable for long-lifecycle asset tracking programmes where tags travel with assets for years or decades.

Standard UHF RFID tags detune severely when placed on metal — the metal plane short-circuits the antenna and the tag becomes unreadable. Ceramic tags use a dielectric spacer and a specially tuned antenna that compensates for this effect, restoring normal read range even when directly mounted on steel, aluminium or other conductive surfaces.
The Tag-U8-3030 achieves up to 7 m with a handheld UHF reader and up to 10 m with a fixed/stationary reader when mounted on metal. Actual range depends on reader output power, antenna gain, and orientation — always verify in your specific environment.
Yes. The IP68 rating and -40°C operating temperature make the Tag-U8-3030 fully suitable for outdoor use in freezing conditions. It is commonly deployed on vehicles, shipping containers, and outdoor infrastructure where temperature swings are significant.
