The Tag-R6P-087-20 is an industrial UHF RFID tag built for demanding environments, featuring a wideband frequency range of 840–940 MHz that ensures reliable operation worldwide. Based on the Impinj Monza R6-P chip, it delivers exceptional read performance both on metal surfaces and in free air. Its compact 87 × 24 × 11 mm body and two 5 mm mounting holes make installation straightforward on any metal asset. Browse more RFID tags in our offer.
The R6P-087 is engineered to perform where standard RFID tags fail. When mounted directly on metal it achieves read distances of up to 6.0 m with a handheld reader and up to 9.8 m with a stationary reader. Even off metal, the tag reads reliably at up to 2.8 m (handheld) or 4.8 m (stationary). This makes it ideal for tracking metal containers, industrial machinery, structural steel and other large metallic assets across logistics, manufacturing and warehousing operations.
The polycarbonate (PC) body of the R6P-087 is rated IP67, providing complete protection against dust ingress and temporary water immersion. Operating and storage temperatures span –30°C to +70°C, making it suitable for outdoor use in harsh climates. The Impinj Monza R6-P chip supports up to 100,000 write cycles and data retention for up to 50 years, ensuring the tag lasts as long as the assets it tracks.
At the core of the R6P-087 is the Impinj Monza R6-P chip, one of the most capable UHF RFID chips available. It provides 128-bit EPC memory for storing a unique identifier, 64-bit USER memory for custom data, and 96-bit TID memory for a factory-programmed serial number that cannot be altered. This memory layout supports asset serialisation, anti-counterfeiting and integration with ERP, WMS and inventory management systems.
20 × R6P-087 UHF RFID tags (87 × 24 × 11 mm, white, polycarbonate, IP67). Each tag features two 5 mm mounting holes for screw installation on metal surfaces.
The R6P-087 is a metal-mount tag — its internal design and ground plane are specifically engineered to use the metal surface beneath it as part of the antenna structure. Standard RFID tags placed on metal detune and lose read range dramatically. The R6P-087 achieves its best performance on metal, up to 9.8 m with a stationary reader.
Yes. Different regions regulate UHF RFID frequencies differently: Europe uses 865–868 MHz, the USA uses 902–928 MHz, and other markets fall elsewhere in the 840–960 MHz band. The R6P-087’s wideband range covers all major global markets, so the same tag works in a European warehouse, a US distribution centre or an Asian manufacturing plant without any modification.
The tag has two 5 mm diameter holes for screw-mounting directly onto metal surfaces. This is the recommended method because it ensures consistent coupling with the metal and maximum read range. Adhesive mounting is not designed for this model — the screw-mount approach also makes the tag more resistant to vibration and impact in industrial environments.
RFID tags themselves store only a unique identifier (EPC code) — they contain no personal data. If the EPC is linked to personal data in an external system (e.g., an employee record), the data controller must ensure GDPR compliance in that system. The physical tag on a metal asset does not create a GDPR obligation on its own.
