Monitor mounts lift the screen off the desk and let you set it at eye level, which reduces neck strain and frees up working space. Depending on the workstation you can choose a mount for one, two, three or more screens, fixed to the desk with a clamp or a grommet, or attached directly to the wall. Accessories extend what a mount can do – a VESA adapter lets you hang a monitor that has no factory mounting holes. In our sets the mount comes together with the matching accessory, ready to install straight out of the box.
A monitor mount is a bracket that holds the screen on an arm instead of its factory stand. It attaches to the VESA hole pattern on the back of the monitor – most commonly 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm – and lets you set the height, angle and rotation of the screen, including turning it 90 degrees into portrait orientation. The desk underneath stays clear and the screen sits at eye level, which is the single most important factor for comfortable work at a computer.
Mounts differ mainly in how many screens they carry and how they are fixed. Single-monitor mounts suit a classic office desk, dual-monitor mounts are chosen where a second screen is needed for comparing documents or watching processes, and mounts for three or more screens serve trading desks, control rooms and dispatch centres. In terms of installation there are desk mounts, fixed to the edge of the desktop with a clamp or through a grommet hole, and wall mounts, which leave the desk completely free and work well in workshops, at production stations and in tight spaces.
Not every screen can be hung straight onto an arm. Some monitors, especially older models and designs with a fixed base, have no factory VESA holes at all. That is what a VESA adapter is for: four adjustable arms are set to the outer dimensions of the housing and pressed against the edges of the screen, holding it firmly without drilling and without interfering with the casing. The adapter fits mounts with the 75 x 75 mm and 100 x 100 mm standard, so once installed the monitor gains the full range of the arm – height adjustment, rotation and tilt.
